Resin Diptych Finished!

After layers of acrylic, ink, and mixed media; followed by 3 resin layers over each, these 2 are finally finished!

Sailor’s Delight • 2017 (Diptych) and Red Sky Night, available at

Originals are 11″ x 14″ x 3/4″ wrapped canvas. Both are framed with black frames and take a lot of abuse in our tean’s bathroom!

These are so difficult to take pictures of, because of the resin glare. Enjoy! Thanks for visiting!

Artist’s Statement

“I imagine a landscape, or object, and what it would look taken down to its basic components, or molecular level. Everything I paint still has some sort of science to it – whether it is a technique, or the thought of a scientific process that allows the function of that natural element. These dissected thoughts translate into the backgrounds, and sometimes as a main component of my paintings. I find the marriage of science and the beauty of nature most challenging to paint, but also makes for the most interesting pieces. I take more time to complete my paintings, because of autoimmune diseases. Ultimately, put my joys, love, thoughts, pain, and experiences onto my substrates. I always hope the viewer finds awe and sees a hope in all my works.”

Triptych of Flowers

Painted with fluid acrylics on birch wood panels. Once cured, these pieces will have an isolation coat and several varnish coats or, I may varnish with resin or wax. I cannot decide!

I tried scanning these into my computer and wouldn’t you know, there are spots under the glass…so they don’t translate the same. So you can see what I am talking about, here is how one turned out:

Tetraptych

This is to show how left-over paint can make beautiful art, too! My friend and neighbor, Julia, brought little canvases over and I made this tetraptych set for her:

If I could put the chronic pain process on canvas, this painting would represent part of that synapse!
